 Greater Pittsburgh Special Hockey Association welcomes sponsors and volunteers to help with:

• Practices and games
• Providing athletes with hockey equipment and uniforms
• Team events, travel games and tournaments
• Outreach  efforts

If you are volunteering as a coach, on-ice volunteer, or off-ice volunteer, please read below about registration and requirements.

Coaches, On-Ice and Off-Ice Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in helping the Steel City Icebergs. As a volunteer working with children, there are certain requirements to meet.

ALL coaches and on-ice volunteers MUST be registered with

• USA Hockey
• ASHA
• The Steel City Icebergs (using the online Volunteer Registration for adults or youth)

NOTE: Steel City Icebergs Volunteers who are registered with USA Hockey for another team, must also then register with USA Hockey as a volunteer with The Steel City Icebergs.

All coaches and on-ice volunteers who are 18 years of age or older must also have the following clearances:

• Mid-American Hockey
• PA State Police Criminal History
• Child Abuse
• FBI Criminal History clearance   NOTE: Volunteers who are not required to obtain the FBI certification because they are applying for an unpaid position and have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the past 10 years must swear or affirm in writing that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under §6344.

All off-ice volunteers, please register with the Steel City Icebergs using the online Volunteer Registration for adults or youth.  You will not have the registration and clearance requirements listed for coaches and on-ice volunteers, unless you are over 18 years of age and directly working with children.
